ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers are dedicated community health volunteers functioning across rural areas as part of the National Health Mission (NHM). They serve as the most crucial grassroots link connecting rural citizens with the public healthcare delivery system.

🎯 Scheme Objectives

The primary objectives of the ASHA initiative are to ensure accessible, timely primary healthcare services for rural residents, improve maternal and child health outcomes, and cultivate sustained community awareness regarding health and personal hygiene.

📌 Core Responsibilities and Public Health Duties

01. Maternal & Child Care
Facilitating essential healthcare assistance, antenatal check-ups, institutional deliveries, and postpartum care for expectant mothers and newborns.
02. Universal Routine Immunization
Promoting, tracking, and ensuring mandatory, timeline-based vaccinations and health check-ups for all infants and children.
03. Family Welfare & Planning
Providing counseling on safe reproductive healthcare practices, spacing methods, and accessible government family welfare services.
04. Health Education & Community Sanitation
Conducting community awareness on maternal nutrition, safe drinking water, household hygiene, and prevention of lifestyle diseases.
05. Communicable Disease Surveillance
Prompt reporting of epidemic outbreaks, leading vector-control drives, fever surveys, and coordinating seasonal disease prevention campaigns.
06. Primary First Aid & Healthcare Referrals
Administering basic first-aid care and facilitating immediate referral of patients to the Family Health Centre (FHC) or government taluk hospitals.
07. Health Surveys & Welfare Mission Execution
Actively executing community demographic health surveys, dynamic health card registrations, and supporting diverse State and Central healthcare missions across all wards of the Panchayat.
